Local Bamboo
The Valiha is a Tube Zither from Madagascar that is made from a local species of bamboo. The name Valiah is also used to describe a number of related zithers of differing shapes and materials. It is considered the national instrument of Madagascar and this is a recording of a young man demonstrating his technique while vending instruments.
