Tongariki is the largest Ahu or stone platform on Easter Island. The Moai’s were toppled during the island’s civil wars, but the site has now been restored and has fifteen standing Moai including the largest one on the island that weighs 86 tonnes. Visitors to the island can watch the sunrise over this magnificent site and be greeted by the local birds and insects.
