In the heart of the Yucatán Peninsula in Southern Mexico lies the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza. Constructed as part of a larger Mayan city, the iconic pyramid remains the centerpiece of the site. Referred to as either “El Castillo” or the “Temple of Kukalkan,” it was named a New Wonder of the World in a 2007 worldwide vote.
