For the first time since we began traveling together, a destination chose us. In February, Jesse’s Afro-Cuban band Malamanya was invited to play at Panama’s 2015 International Boquete Jazz and Blues Festival. No way was Jonah going to miss out on that fun! Jonah traveled to Panama a few days before the band arrived to explore Panama City and collect sounds for our ongoing project, The Touch of Sound. It was a brief trip with much focus on the festival itself, yet we found time to experience a country filled with unique sounds.
In November 2014, we had the privilege of traveling to Vietnam as a part of our ongoing project The Touch of Sound, featuring authentic sound recordings from around the world. As a country that has significant historical impact to our parents’ generation, we have long felt compelled to travel there and learn about it from our own perspective. We found Vietnam to be a feast for the senses. Along with the country’s abundance of sounds, the people were friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing, the culture was fascinating and the sometimes dark but important history came to life. Please enjoy some of the sound highlights from our adventure.
In August 2014, we were proud to partner with the US Cuba Artist Exchange’s people to people tour. We traveled to Cuba to collect sounds for our ongoing project The Touch of Sound, which features authentic sound recordings from around the world. Throughout our trip we encountered a vibrant country, full of history, culture, music, and especially sounds. Each location we visited had its own unique environment. Please enjoy the sonic highlights from each stop on our Cuban adventure.
In July 2014, we traveled to Montreal to explore Quebec’s largest city while collecting sounds for our project, The Touch of Sound, which features authentic sound recordings from around the world. During our visit, we discovered an energetic city full of unique sounds and cultures.
Mexico City or Distrito Federal (D.F.) is the capital of Mexico. We traveled there in May 2014 to visit a friend and collect sounds for our project The Touch of Sound, which features authentic sound recordings from around the world. We found the city to be rich in both history and culture, stimulating all of our senses in many ways. Please enjoy some of the sound highlights we were able to capture while exploring this dynamic location.
Belize is a country in Central America that shares borders with Mexico and Guatemala along the Caribbean Sea. We traveled there in January 2014 to collect sounds for our project The Touch of Sound, which features authentic sound recordings from around the world. Belize is an amazing country. The people are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the backdrop of Belize’s stunning natural beauty amplifies the unique blend of its interesting cultures.
