The City of a Thousand Minarets
The metropolitan area of Cairo is one of the largest in the world. The city was founded in the 10th century and is well known for its Islamic architecture, which has earned it the nickname ‘The City of a Thousand Minarets’. The call to prayer can be heard five times daily including near the Great Pyramids complex in Giza.
