Snæfellsjökull
Located at the foot of the Snæfellsjökull volcano on the western tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Djúpalónssandur Beach is covered with smooth black pebbles called Djúpalónsperlur, or “The Pearls of Djúpalón.” Once the home of a prominent fishing village, the bay is uninhabited today. The picturesque volcanic landscape produces a unique sound as the North Atlantic waves crash into the beach.
