Giant of Provence
Known as the “Giant of Provence”, Mont Ventoux is one of the most famed climbs in bicycle racing, and is also noted by UNESCO as a biologically distinctive area: Many of the mountain’s flora and fauna are unique to Mont Ventoux. 2013 marked the 100th edition of the Tour de France, and its 15th stage finished at the summit for the ninth time in the race’s history. This sound was captured as the stage’s winner (and eventual winner of the race), Team Sky’s Christopher Froome, passed 800 meters to the finish line.
