Lake Itasca is a glacial lake in northern Minnesota. Located in the center of the North American continent, it is the primary source of the Mississippi River. It takes 90 days for a drop of rain that hits the lake to flow the 2,340 miles south to the Gulf of Mexico. This sound was collected at night because visitors pack the site during the day.
