Located between Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the small town of Na’alehu, Punalu’u Black Sand Beaches’ jet black shores are an unforgettable sight. Coconut palms fringe the upper edge of the beach and you may also discover large honu, or Hawaiian Green Sea turtles, basking on the sand. The Punalu’u pond is a sanctuary for all kinds of native birds and plant life.
