Kaimondake is a dormant volcano located on the south island of Kyushu in Japan. It is an important landmark on the Satsuma Peninsula and is sometimes referred to as the ‘Fuji’ of Satsuma due to its conic shape. It rises 924 meters above the sea and hikers who scale the mountain are greeted by its local bird and insect population.
